If you don’t have much cash to spend on online dating websites, but you’re hoping to meet a Thai date or two, ThaLoveWeb.com might be a site worth considering. It’s completely free to use and offers some useful features. However, it’s not always easy to use, there's virtually no online help and the ads around the site can interrupt an otherwise fun experience. Membership numbers are also a bit low and finding someone to chat to can be a challenge, depending on when you log in.

There are a few features on this website which you might not expect to see from a free dating site. You can send and receive private messages or talk in a chat room, plus you can broadcast a video of yourself. Members can include their Skype details if they wish to have a webcam chat, which is a useful piece of additional information. The chat room leaves a little to be desired though, as when we logged on there were just three other people in the room and they weren’t really chatting. Still, it’s nice to have the option. If membership numbers build, it would be good if the site expanded the chat area so that you could choose a room based on your interests. 

Building a profile is easy enough but not a quick process as you are expected to include quite a bit of information and a photo. More generally, members’ photos aren’t great quality and there are limitations on the size and quality of the images you’re able to upload. Once you’ve logged in, you can play a “hot or not” game, which asks you to rate photos and provides members with a “score” for their picture.

You can also add members to a list of favorites or friends, should you wish to talk to them again later. You can send regular private messages using an internal email system, or an e-card which lets you say hi quickly. This could use an expansion as we could only find one e-card to send, which is a bit of a letdown. 

Thai Love Web has some interesting ideas but it doesn’t quite work perfectly. Partly, this is due to low active membership, but it’s also because the site needs a bit of a makeover, love and care. If you have an adblocker this needs to be disabled so you can use the site, meaning you’ll need to browse past various ads for goods and services. It might not be the best site around but it’s free and has enough to offer users to make it worth a visit.
