The problem with some dating sites which have a clear focus, whether it’s Jewish dating, Thai dating, muscle dating or whatever else strikes your fancy, is that there aren’t that many members. This isn’t such a problem with ThaiKisses, which – according to the website – has almost half a million active members, making it “the largest Thai dating site”. This all sounds pretty promising, right? Well yes, it’s certainly got a few things going for it, but there are a couple of drawbacks that might encourage you to check other sites too. In particular, the registration process and the prices are our bugbears, and there are a few other little improvements which could be made. Still, it is a definite contender so read on to see why...

Okay let’s start with this registration process. What’s the big deal? Well it all goes fine until you get to the end, when you are asked to scan your ID or to take a photo of yourself holding up a piece of paper with your email address on it. Frankly this just seems an unnecessary step to merely register with the site. Fine, if you’re planning on meeting a Thai member, perhaps you ought to provide an extra level of security, but it seems extreme to request this information before you’ve even signed up. 

Okay, rant over. So what can you expect when using the site? The first thing that’s good to see is that people are online, and there are plenty of profiles to explore. You can search for members, although the basic search is really quite basic (with a few options such as zodiac sign, which we feel could have been replaced with something more useful).

You can chat to members using email, live text chat or even video chat. The variety of communication tools is great, allowing you to pick and choose how to talk with members. However, we would like to see a few more community features such as chat rooms, information on Thai culture and forum pages for members to talk freely in groups. Still, it’s not bad. 

The site is primarily for members to talk to and date Thai members, although there are also plenty of international members, some of whom are of Thai heritage and some who are simply interested in meeting Thai people. You’ll find various versions of the site are readily available to countries such as Germany, the UK, Australia, Sweden, France, the US and more.

We were also very interested to see that you can continue to talk with established contacts via email or live chat, even if you decide to stop paying a subscription fee. 

Fees are another issue which might put some people off using ThaiKisses. The site is more expensive than a number of its peers. The difference isn’t substantial but it isn’t insignificant either, so we do recommend considering the affordability of this site and how long you plan on using it for. Some members are looking for life-long partners, so talking online might take some time before you plan to meet up in person.

All things considered, though, ThaiKisses.com offers good value for money, with a growing number of active members and useful communication tools for getting to know that special someone.
