Thai Love Lines aren’t wrinkles on your forehead, in fact, it’s a website that offers the opportunity to meet and date people from Thailand, or people with ancestry or links with Thailand. The site offers several useful communication tools including video chat and live chat, plus some advice on visiting Thailand or arranging trips for people from Thailand to visit you. Its profiles can be pretty in depth, which will take you some time to complete but the pay-off is your matches are likely to be more fitting. There are thousands of members to explore and talk with, as well as a few features to make using the site a little more enjoyable.
Registering can take some time with ThaiLoveLives, particularly if you fill in all the information. However, you can skip some of these processes at the beginning and return to them once you’ve decided to invest more time into the website. Free members are fairly restricted by what they can do, although they can perform a quick search and check out members’ photos. You can also see their profiles, which give you a lot of basic information regarding their lives, such as religious beliefs, drinking habits and whether or not they have (or want) children. You can also read a personal message from each member, which they have to write as a way of introduction.
Profiles aren’t that glamorous but they do a good job of displaying information. After you’ve found someone you like the look of, you can get chatting. If someone is in your “favorites” list, then you can use Skype to chat, otherwise you’ll need to rely on sending emails or launching the Instant Messenger. However, to communicate effectively you’ll need to upgrade your account to Premium membership, which costs money. This site is relatively cheap, however, and costs are slightly lower than many of their competitors, adding a further level of value.
The site isn’t perfect and may not be for everyone. There’s some advice on travelling to Thailand, with a few links to help you arrange trips, but they could have done more with this. There is also no forum area or information about Thailand or its cultures. Equally, it might have been useful to provide similar information of other countries where people of Thai heritage might wish to visit.
There is a news wall which provides relatively up to date information on broadcasts made by members, such as trips they have planned or general messages they wish to share. If you’re looking for genuine news stories, you’ll have to look somewhere else. Somewhat strangely (but it comes as a nice surprise) there are also links to Capitol.fm, so you can listen to a tune or two whilst you browse.
Improvements could be made to ThaiLoveLines.com, particularly through the lack of community features. However, if you want to talk with Thai people online, with the hope of meeting up, this isn’t a bad place to come and spend some time.
